Main Idea: We are ambassadors for Christ.
Introduction: This week we continued our series, Transformation, and Pastor Zac preached on 2 Corinthians 5:17-20.
Discussion Starter: An ambassador is a representative or a messenger. Everyone is an ambassador of something—their work, their team, their hobby, etc. So what are you an ambassador of? What gets you fired up in conversations? What gets you talking and urging others to join you?
Primary Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Romans 12:2, 1 Samuel 30:6-8.
- Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-20. According to these verses, if we follow Christ, we are ambassadors for Christ. Think about the discussion starter. If you are an ambassador for something other than Christ (and we all are), how does your work for Christ compare to that other thing? Is it easier to be an ambassador for your team or something other than Christ? Why is that?
- Read Romans 12:1-2. If you feel you are a better ambassador fo the UT Vols than for Christ, you are not alone. Spend a few minutes praying for one another. Ask God to transform you and renew your minds. Ask Him to give you wisdom and discernment for how He wants to use you as His ambassador.
- Read 1 Samuel 30:6-8. David inquired of the Lord when he was in a tough spot. What is your first response in a difficult situation? How can we move toward seeking God’s help first when we face difficulties?
Suggestion: Consider breaking the group into twos or threes for this section.
How is your spiritual growth going in 2022? Are you joining in the 21 day fast? Are you reading along on the yearly Bible plan? What is one concrete step you can take this week towards spiritual growth? Share with your group, and ask them to pray for you and hold you accountable for that step.
