Faith Promise exists to win the world by equipping Christ followers to win their world starting with 1% of the state of Tennessee.

Our Core Beliefs:

God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives all believers a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without error.

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates people from God and causes all problems in life.

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

People were created to exist forever. We will exist either eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship and the means for procreation of the human race. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.

Our History

  • 1995

    Faith Promise is Founded

    On February 5 1995, a movement called Faith Promise Church begins in a hotel ballroom in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The gathering of 350 people with a great burden met to worship and pray for a movement that would change people’s eternities, not only in Tennessee, but around the world. In the early years, Faith Promise met in multiple other locations, including the mall in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

  • 1996

    Dr. Chris Stephens is Named Senior Pastor

    In an unanimous vote, the people of Faith Promise call Dr. Chris Stephens to be their first Senior Pastor and to shepherd the vision of this great movement of God. After accepting the call, Dr. Chris Stephens challenges Promisors to, “Put on your running shoes.” During his first weekend as Pastor, the entire church answered his challenge by showing up in their running shoes ready to run!

  • 2000

    Pellissippi Building is Established

    After deciding not to build on land previously purchased, the vision to be a regional church led Faith Promise to buy 33 acres in the Hardin Valley area of Knoxville. This movement of real love continues growing together and settles on a mountain overlooking a beautiful and thriving area of West Knoxville, establishing the Pellissippi campus which still serves as the broadcast campus. The Pellissippi campus continues to flourish in ministry and impact.

  • 2010

    Blount County Campus Established

    Through the continuing faith and obedience of Promisors who already attended the Pellissippi campus and lived in Blount County and the surrounding area, the Blount Campus launched! Now hundreds of people have been rescued and thousands more from the community have now experienced the real love of Jesus Christ.

  • 2012

    North Knox Campus Established

    Like the humble beginnings of some of the first Faith Promise campuses, the North Knox Campus began in 2012 as a portable location in the Knoxville Expo Center. After explosive growth, an opportunity to move deeper into the community in a permanent facility was completed in 2014. Now North Knox Campus ministers and serves one of the more populated areas in the region.

  • 2013

    Anderson Campus Established

    In 2013, Faith Promise was approached by Lifepoint Church with an opportunity to expand in locations less accessible to the other Faith Promise campuses in the Anderson and Campbell County communities. After incredible growth, in 2019 these campuses combined and moved to a new location deeper into Anderson County to reach even more people looking for the real love of Jesus.

  • 2014

    Promesa de Fe, Costa Rica Campus Established

    In partnership with Open Eyes Ministries, this campus was established in 2014 in Canas, Costa Rica and is Faith Promise’s first international campus. Through this campus, real people with real problems are being helped to find the real love of Jesus Christ in their language, in their communities, and most importantly in their hearts and lives.

  • 2016

    God Behind Bars Campus Established

    In 2016, Faith Promise partnered with God Behind Bars to bring God’s transformational real love to Bledsoe County Correctional Complex, shortly followed by Morgan County Correctional Complex in 2017. Each portable campus is a weekly reminder and demonstration that just because someone is behind bars does not mean they are beyond God’s reach, forgiveness, acceptance and saving grace.

  • 2017

    Farragut Campus Established

    Born out of compassion to reach more people in 2017, this campus’ modest beginnings in Farragut High School prepared to become a thriving church in a community hungry for a new and fresh move of God. Although still a relatively young campus, this campus moved into a permanent location in 2020 and life change stories are pouring in!

  • 2020

    Promesa de Fe, Knoxville Established

    Despite a year of separation, shutdown and quarantine, a new essential campus launched to reach people in their own language: Promesa de Fe, Knoxville. Currently this campus meets inside of the North Knox Campus facility. We believe nothing should separate anyone from His real love.

  • 2021

    Bristol Campus Established

    Finding God’s Favor at work reached new people and communities beyond our imagination through the grand opening of a launching campus in the Tri-Cities area and a new God Behind Bars campus in the Bledsoe Women’s Correctional Facility. Loving God, loving people, and pursuing purpose to win world is just getting started!
