What’s Your Faith Story?

(This post was written by Gina McClain, Director of Children’s Ministries)

The past few weeks we’ve focused on the concept of Faith, trusting what you can’t see because of what you can see.  We’ve challenged your elementary child to collect a ‘Faith Story’ by asking someone to share about an event in which they stepped out on faith and/or how God showed up in a big way.

Have you shared your story with your child?

A wise friend of mine once shared a thought with me that still challenges me today.  We were discussing our testimonies when he stopped me and said, “Gina, your testimony is not a one-time occurrence in your life.  It isn’t restricted to the day you said yes to Jesus.  Your testimony is an ever-evolving story of how God is working in your life to reveal more of Him and less of you.”

I value that wisdom.

Testimonies (a.k.a. Faith Stories) are a series of stories that begin the day you meet Jesus and don’t end until the day we join Him in Heaven… yet even then I think we’ll be somewhere in Heaven sharing stories about His Greatness.  J

Our kids need to hear our testimonies.  Our Faith stories.  They need to hear how God is actively working to shape & mold us, revealing less of us and more of Him.  They need to hear how our faith is stretched.  How we step out and trust what we can’t see because of what we can.

Would you help this generation of kids to see how God actively works in the lives of His children?  Share your faith story with us.  You can post a comment below, post it on our Facebook wall or send us an email at [email protected]

Briefly share about an event in which you stepped out on faith and/or how God showed up in a big way.
