The other day I was on twitter and saw a tweet that said “What if you were left with today only the things you thanked God for yesterday?” When I read that I was in shock and I realized that I very rarely thank God for even half the things He has blessed me with. I realized that if I woke up today and had only the things I thanked Him for yesterday all I would have is my food and a beautiful day…pathetic right?
In the Bible it says “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His loving-kindness is everlasting” over nine times! Obviously we should be in continuous thanksgiving.
Hebrews 13:15- Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
When we pray we should always remember to be truly thankful for all of the blessings God has given to us and all that He will give to us. Even in the storm we should praise Him for the sunshine that will follow. God gives us many promises that will always stand true. If we take captive every thought and submit it to the authority of the Lord (2 Cor. 10:5), our thankfulness will come naturally; all it takes is an action!
So today I challenge you to have a thankful heart. See how much it will raise your sprit as well as giving God the praise he deserves!
