Summer Recap: High School
(This post was written by Michael Wallace, High School Pastor)
Whether you are just starting your family, or you’re about to celebrate your student’s senior year, the Family Ministry is all about YOU! As the High School Pastor, I would like to give you a few snapshots of what’s been going on this summer with the High School Ministry:
Unleashed Student Camp. We took nearly 200 people to Myrtle Beach, SC, and saw God move in incredible ways throughout the week! The experience concluded with our Unleashed After Party where all families were invited to celebrate as 12 students were baptized. Make sure to mark your calendar for Student Camp next year – July 16-21, 2011.
Mission: Nashville. This spring, the city of Nashville was blindsided by a powerful flood that left much of the city devastated. In July, FPC Students reached out to the communities that were damaged by removing damaged siding from homes, sharing God’s love with children in the area and giving back to several ministries in the area who have already given so much. Then, we wrapped up the experience by packing over 17,000 rice meals to send to children in Nicaragua!
Block Busters Series. One of the best things about summer is the release of incredible movies! We capitalized on students’ flare for film this year by transforming FPC into a movie theater and teaching from wildly popular movies like “Twilight”, “Avatar” and “Blindside.” We even had a special “Christmas in July” that included the move “Elf”!
Catalyst After Dark. All summer long, the Catalyst experience on Wednesday nights has been extended to 10:00pm to give high school students a chance to connect in their prime time of the summer: late night! From water wars to outdoor movie events, this has been a summer to remember!
With jam-packed summer nearly behind us, we are already geared up for an amazing Fall semester at Catalyst. Make sure every high school student you know makes a point to get to FPC on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm every week!
