Small Group Serves with Carecuts Knoxville
On Sunday our small group participated in Carecuts Knoxville, a ministry dedicated to serving Knoxville’s homeless by providing free haircuts, shampoo, hair coloring, manicures, and waxing. In addition to this, each client is fed a hot lunch and supplied with a care bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, etc.) The ministry stages this event once a month and just completed it’s 5th month. This month it was at the GEO Hair Lab on W 5th Ave.
Our group was able to serve by shampooing individual’s hair, interacting with the clients, and sweeping up the hair once it was cut. It was great seeing each one of these people enjoy some of the luxuries that we have all enjoyed and often take for granted. Our goal was to let them feel humanized and to love on them a little. It felt great to keep in mind what it says in Matthew 25 by doing a little for “the least of these.”
