Parent Connection – fpStudents
Series: “My Life”
Focus: Faith
Family Discussion:
In this brand new series at fpStudents we will dive into some amazing stories of people that walk through our doors every week! We will take a look this week at how some of our volunteers and staff have seen the impact of faith in God on their lives.
In the “God’s Word” translation, Hebrews 11:1-3 says, “Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see. God accepted our ancestors because of their faith. Faith convinces us that God created the world through his word. This means what can be seen was made by something that could not be seen.”
Faith can be one of the toughest things to grasp as a Christ-follower, simply because it transcends our physical sense. As the writer of Hebrews notes, we can’t see God, but we must trust that He is living and active in our world. That’s what faith is all about. Recognizing that even though we can’t see God in a tangible, standing-in-front-of-you-and-giving-you-a-high-five kind of way, we believe and act with the understanding that who He is and what He does has an impact on our lives.
Discussion Questions:
– Putting your trust in God fully starts with a single step of faith in Him…what steps have you taken to show God you trust Him?
– Do you think that there is a connection between love and obedience? Do you see this connection in your family, too?
– What is your family doing right now that requires faith in who God is?
– What next steps can you take to keep relying on God?
The great thing about responding to God in faith is that faith has less to do with what we can do and more to do with who God is. God’s character is what makes Him faithful to us. The fact that He loves us and chose to reconcile a relationship with us proves that our faith isn’t based on how good we are but how faithful God is!
