Parent Connection: fpStudents

Series:  “First Wednesday Worship Night”

Focus:  The Priority of Worship

Family Discussion:

This week fpStudents jumped on a unique opportunity to experience corporate worship with the whole Faith Promise family.  Instead of having our regular service that includes live worship, games, teaching and small groups, we are rolling into the summer by rocking out with the “First Wednesday” experience at the Pellissippi and Blount campuses.  Worship is a massively huge component to our lives.  The truth is that we are all wired for worship!  Every fiber of our being was designed with the purpose of praising our Father in Heaven.

The concept of worship is not one that is contained to the times when we really feel like singing loudly.  We see King David’s first response to learning about the death of his child in 2 Samuel 12:19-20. “David noticed that his servants were whispering among themselves and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked. “Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.” Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.”

Adam walked with God in the garden, David wrote songs to Him and Paul poured his life out in acts of service to glorify God.  No matter what season you are walking through as a family, remember that God is always worthy of praise, and you have been given all the tools you need to worship Him with your life!

Discussion Questions:

–          How does your family intentionally worship God each week?

–          How does worship affect the relationships within your family?

–          If you have ever experienced a hardship like David did, how has worship played a role in your circumstances?

–          What gifts has God given you that have been holding back from using in worship to Him?
