Parent Connection – fpKIDS
Preschool (2yrs to PreK)
I can help others!
This week we wonder “What can we do to help others?”. Looking at Elisha’s life in 2 Kings 4:8-17 we see how God took care of Elisha through the Shunemite woman. This is a practical example of how God wants to use us today. What a great concept for our preschoolers to learn!
In fact, we’re going to give our preschoolers the opportunity to experience what it’s like to help others. This week your child will come home with a paper bag. This bag is for you to fill with non-perishable food items to bring back to church and donate to Pantry of Promise. What a great opportunity to show your preschooler that…
I can help others!
This week be mindful of the rhythms of your home. Look for opportunities for you to gather your kids together and talk about the ways you helped others that day. Then stop to pray asking God to help you see even the smallest opportunities to help others.
Elementary (K-3rd grade)
When you think you can’t wait, don’t forget what’s true.
Figuring out what’s true can be difficult for children. But one thing we want to make sure that kids know is true is that we can trust God…no matter what.
As adults, we can trust God, too, no matter what. Kids today experience so many inconsistencies in their life so we want to make sure they remember that the one thing they can always count on is God. They can trust God. Kids will be much more likely to believe in trusting God when they trust you first.
This week we discover how the Israelites chose not to trust God and the impact of that decision. This week, Make It Personal, by reading through Exodus 32:1-35 and see how the Israelites learned the value of patience.
Club 45 (4th & 5th grade)
Sticks and stones may break my bones…
I’m convinced that whoever made up that little rhyme is a liar. Words hurt. They may not break bones… but they break trust. They break spirits. They break hearts. This week we dig into the power of our words with your 4th and 5th grader. We’ll explore James 3:3-10 and Proverbs 15:1 to see what God’s word says about the power of our tongue.
This week join your preteen by memorizing Proverbs 15:1 with them. Create a Rhythm of internalizing scripture by memorizing it then talking about what God has revealed to you as the week goes on.
