A simple truth that we all need to remember.  A simple truth we easily lose sight of in the midst of life’s challenges. Yet it’s a truth we want to tuck away into the hearts of our kids.

God Cares About Me

This week we will teach from the story of the  Lost Sheep in Luke 15:3-7.  This parable comes directly from the mouth of Christ communicating one simple truth.

This week, Create A Rhythm with your preschooler by memorizing Ephesians 3:18 together.  Use these great hand motions to help your preschooler remember each word.

“How wide (holding your arms out wide)

and high (jumping as high as you can)

and long (holding your arms out vertically)

and deep (pretending to dig with a shovel)

is the love (hugging yourself) 

of Christ (pointing up),”

Ephesians 3:18 (opening your hands like a book).

Elementary (K – 3rd grade)

In this week’s Bible story, Isaac settles in his father’s land and reopens some wells (Genesis 26:16-22, 26-31). When his new neighbors argue with him, he simply moves to a new place and digs new wells.  Isaac had every right to fight for those wells, but he chose peace instead.

Our Bottom Line is : prove you care about others by walking away from a fight.  Sometimes creating peace with someone means walking away even if we’re not wrong.  Often it takes a stronger person to have the self-control to walk away.

The monthly memory verse is

“So let us do all we can to live in peace. And let us work hard to build each other up.” Romans 14:19, NIrV.

Living in peace can be hard work.  But when we fight for our relationships instead of fighting to be right, we start to reflect the character of God to those around us.

This week, Fight for the Heart, by creating an environment of unconditional love in your home.  Look closely at the sibling relationships under your roof.  Do your kids for their relationship?  Or do the fight to be right?  Teach them the standard you expect regarding grace and love in your home.

This week we zero in on our scripture focus for this month.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” Philippians 4:8, NLT

This week we focus in on the ear candy in our lives.  The music we listen to.

We want our tweens to learn to choose music that is helpful, not harmful.  Using Philippians 4:8 as a measuring stick is a great place to begin.  If it doesn’t fit, you probably don’t need to be listening.

This week, Make It Personal by sifting through your own playlists on your iPod.  Do the songs you listen to line up with Philippians 4:8?
