God Made Me

We have seen that God spent 6 days making good things.  Genesis 1:31 says “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good”.  On day 7 we see in Gen 2:1-3 that God rested.  In Jewish culture, that day of rest became their Sabbath.  This was according to the law that was given in the Old Testament.  When Jesus was crucified and then rose from the dead, he provided eternal rest for those that believe in him.

We can live every day in the rest that Jesus has provided.  We can rest in His goodness and His grace.  We can rest knowing that He has our best interests in mind and if we let Him, He will work all things towards good for those of us who love Him.

Let your children see you rest.  Not only resting in His goodness, but take time away from the business of life and rest with your family.  There are too many things fighting for our time and attention.  Fight for the Heart this week by taking time to rest with your family.  Take a walk and in that time together talk about all the good things God made and how Jesus gives us rest.

Elementary (K-3rd Grade)

Love-choosing to give someone your time and friendship no matter what

Forgiveness can be such a hard concept, for kids and adults alike.  We want your student to know that one of the greatest ways they can show love, is by forgiving.

Let’s take that one step further.  What if we don’t choose to take offense in the first place?  No one can “offend you”.  It’s our choice to be offended.  Think about all of the opportunities Jesus had to be offended.  He was constantly dejected, turned down, shut out and finally crucified.  But he walked in love.  Not only did He ask for forgiveness for us all, He chose not to be offended.

Jesus will never ask us to do something that He didn’t do himself.  He was a man  empowered by the Holy Spirit, just like us.  Create a Rhythm this week with your kids by not only walking in forgiveness, but just don’t take offense in the first place.  When someone does or says something that might normally upset you, choose to see them as Jesus does and walk in love no matter what!

Club 45 (4-5th grade)

Hot, Bold, Confident

This weekend we will talk with your 4th or 5th grader about building a faith foundation that cannot be shaken.  It’s so important to develop an unfailing confidence and trust in our God, so that when the “storms” of life come, we know who to turn to.

Just as Noah trusted God to do something that seemed so crazy, like build a boat when it had never rained, we want your student to always trust God in any situations they face.  When the rain started, Noah wasn’t surprised or afraid.  He was on the boat and prepared.  He had listened to God and knew it was all going to work out.  Hebrews 11:1 says “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”.  We don’t always know the outcome or even the path, but we know that God is GOOD.  He has good plans for us, we just have to trust him.

Widen the Circle this week and ask people in your life that have a strong faith foundation to share their testimonies with your student.  Help build their faith with faith stories from people who are living it out!  Include your own stories…they need to see you walking out your faith too.
