Parent Connection – fpKids

Preschool

The Deets:

Basic Truth: God loves me.

Key Question: Can you believe what God says?

Bottom Line: God does what He says He will do.

Memory Verse: “Trust the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5, NCV

Bible Story Focus: God keeps His promises.  Noah • Genesis 8:1–9:17

Unpacked:
How do we teach our kids that we can believe what God says?  Is that really important at such a young age?  Well, I guess when we stop for a minute and “Imagine the End” we can all agree that we want a young adult that knows they can believe what God says.

This weekend, take some time to practice the memory verse with your child.  “Trust the Lord with all your heart.”  What are you trusting the Lord for right now?  As we approach August and another Miracle Weekend, what are you trusting God for with all your heart?  All throughout Scripture we see how God keeps His promises. Will you believe what God says?

The Deets:

Virtue: Perseverance—refusing to give up when life gets hard.

Memory Verse: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”  Isaiah 40:31, NIV

Bible Story: The Navigator (keep your eyes on Jesus) • Hebrews 12:2-3; Matthew 28:20b

Bottom Line: When life seems impossible, remember what Jesus did for you.

Unpacked:
What a better topic to focus on with our kids.  Perseverance!

How many times are we encouraging our kids to stay in the game?  Remain focused!  Don’t give up!

How many times are we coaching ourselves the same way?  The circumstances that drive us to want to give up may look different from our kids, but it still requires the same virtue to push us through.  Perseverance.

Consider for a moment the challenges you face that you want to give up on.  The circumstances that really test your willingness to persevere.  Maybe it’s a Bible study.  Maybe it’s an exercise program.  Maybe it’s bigger.  Whatever it is… how can you share with your child the challenges of perseverance.  How can you “Make it Personal” by allowing your kids a glimpse into how you strive to keep your eyes focused on Christ.  Picking up where we left off in June, we continue our venture through the book of Hebrews.  Take some time this weekend and read Hebrews 12.  Be reminded that Jesus is the One we want to focus our eyes on.

In August we approach another Miracle Weekend.  For so many of us, a miracle is something we’re holding out for.  Let me encourage you to persevere in prayer, focusing on Christ & seeking Him for the miracle you need.  Hope in the Lord and He will renew your strength.
