Parent Connection – fpKids

Preschool:  This week we continue to focus on the Basic Truth ‘God Loves Me’.  And He demonstrates His love by teaching me.  A Key Question to ask your Preschooler is, “Who will teach me?”  We want kids to know that in all things ‘God Will Teach Me!’.

It’s the lesson you’ve been waiting for!!!

This week we focus on the scripture in Ephesians 6:1-3 that tells us to obey our parents.  The bottom line for the day?

God wants me to obey my parents!

If there were an ‘Obedience Dial’ in our kids we’d have it cranked on high.  We just want our kids to obey.  And yet it’s an ongoing ‘muscle’ we are constantly teaching our kids to exercise.  As mentioned last week, obedience to God begins with the understanding that God will have things for me to do and I should do what he tells me to do.

Well, that starts in your home.  The extent to which your child obeys God is the extent to which your child obeys you.  (I don’t know about you but flashes of my 5 year old are racing through my head… ouch.  We’ve got more work to do.)

This weekend take a few minutes to consider areas where you’d like to see your child obey more.  Fight for the Heart by creating an environment of unconditional love in your home.  Teaching obedience requires grace, consistency and boundaries. If you’re married, sit down with your spouse and talk openly about how you can teach you preschooler to obey.  Agree on a plan then make it happen.  Because God wants your child to obey you.  He’s for it… even if your preschooler isn’t.  J

Elementary:  Faith is trusting in what you can’t see because of what you can see.

This week in fpKID Elementary we want our kids to walk away with a single truth…

“You can trust that God can do the impossible because He’s God.”

Pulling from the historical account in Exodus 14:5-31 and the corresponding summary in Hebrews 10:32-35, we’ll share the story of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea.  Another epic account of faith where we watch Moses believe in what he can’t see because of what he has seen.

This weekend, Make It Personal and take some time to read the Exodus 14:5-31 & Hebrews 10:32-35.  Consider how God might be stretching your faith in the same way.  Stretching you to believe in what you can’t see because of what you can see.  Allow your kids to see how you strive to grow by sharing your Faith Story with them.  Share about an event where you stepped out in faith and/or how God showed up in a big way.
