Making Memories
(This post was written by Matt Grimes, Middle School Ministry Pastor)
Today marks a huge milestone in our daughter Elins life. She is one month old and to celebrate we are having her newborn pictures taken today. Newborn pictures are important. They capture the memories of this stage in our daughters life. From here forward we can look back on these pictures and be reminded of all the great memories we experienced during this phase of her life.
As a parent how are you creating memories? In our families we need to create experiences that will build memories for our families, memories that our families will look back on in years to come. Those memories can come from a vacation taken or even something as simple as a family trip and picnic to Cade’s Cove. Contrary to popular belief creating memories does not require money to be spent. It does require us to be creative in figuring out what connects with our families and will create memories.
Not only do we need to create memories but as a family we need to make sure we take time to capture those memories for our families so we can remind ourselves of those memories. I encourage you as a family to create a memory book to write down your families memories in so you can look back through it and be reminded of all you have experienced together. You will especially love this when your kids grow up and have kids o their own. You will have all kinds of stories to share with them about their parents when they were kids. What kid doesn’t love that?
So summer is here. How will you create and capture family memories this summer. There is no better time to start than right now.
