Holiday Hysteria
If you are like me, you really do enjoy the holiday season. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s an important time to get together with family, and to turn off the distractions that life brings. Instead of busy work schedules, and deadlines to meet, families relax, eat, and reconnect with people that they care about the most.
I would have to say that one of my most favorite holidays is Thanksgiving. I love the sights, the smells, and the food. There is nothing better than waking up on Thanksgiving morning and turning on the Thanksgiving Day parade, and relaxing in front of the fire place in my pajamas with a cup of Williams and Sonoma Peppermint Hot Chocolate until the family gathers for a meal like no other. It truly is a time to turn off and relax.
If we are not careful though, the holidays can quickly turn into a time of hysteria where we end up running from place to place, party to party, and end up missing time to simple stop and breath. Many families this holiday season will spend the majority of their time on the roads traveling from place to place to keep everyone happy, then wake up early on Friday and spend all day shopping getting to the best sales on black Friday. When Thanksgiving is over, they will feel exhausted, and as a family miss out on chances to simply stop and breathe as a family and recharge their family’s batteries.
I want to challenge you this holiday season to evaluate your family’s plans and schedule and ask where you can block off some time to stop as a family and simply breathe. To find time to stop and recharge your families connect with each other. Don’t miss family moments this holiday season with all the holiday hysteria that will be going on around you. Don’t be afraid to say no to something that just might allow your family to stop and breath, and create some cool holiday memories.
