Happy 20th Anniversary, FPC!
Dear Faith Promise Family,
As I write this today, my heart is overflowing with gratitude and praise to our Heavenly Father for all He has done for His church called Faith Promise! On February 5, 1995, the first FPC worship service was held at the Garden Plaza Hotel in Oak Ridge with 350 in attendance and an impromptu offering of over $20,000 given. That day marked the birth of a new work of God which through years of prayer, sacrifice, and faith has now grown to be the largest church in the East Tennessee region, with attendance last weekend of over 6,500. Wow! What a mighty God we serve!
Our 20-year anniversary celebration begins on January 31-February 1 with a new sermon series called, We Can’t Stay Here. In Genesis 12:1-5 we read the story of how Abraham followed God’s command, left the familiarity and safety of his own country, and journeyed to the land of Canaan. Because of his faith and obedience, God promised to not only bless him, but to bless all the families of the earth through him. Just like with Abraham, God has honored the faith and obedience of so many by blessing Faith Promise beyond what any of its founding members could ever have dreamed or imagined. This weekend we will take a look back at where God has brought us and celebrate all that he has done through the years. Whether you have been here since day one or are brand new to our church family, you won’t want to miss this awesome celebration!
This series will continue through the weekend of February 14-15 as we look at what God’s Word says about continuing to pursue the vision that Faith Promise was founded on 20 years ago – a red-hot heart for SOULS! Making it hard to go to hell from East Tennessee – that is the reason why We Can’t Stay Here!
Looking forward to celebrating with you!
Love,
Pastor Chris
