Habitat for Humanity Work Day

houseHey guys!

We have an AMAZING opportunity to host a Faith Promise Church Work Day in conjunction with the Habitat for Humanity of Knoxville.

On October 22nd they will host what they call a BLITZ DAY.  A Blitz Day Involves starting with a floor, building the exterior walls, setting the trusses, and decking the roof – the house will be “in the dry” at the end of the day.
We will have two crews – morning (7:30-11:30) and afternoon (11:30-3:30). Since 75% of the afternoon crew will be on the roof we ask that those signing up to volunteer at that time are comfortable with heights and are willing to stay until the work is finished.
Can’t make it out on the 22nd? Not a problem. They also have volunteer opportunities available as follows:
Oct 29th – 8:30 a. m.- 3:30 p.m. ( Interior Walls and Roofing)

Interior Walls consists of building and setting walls and installing top-plate, dead-wood, and cabinet blocking. Volunteers will work most of the day. Roofing Start of shingling may be delayed if there is excess moisture on the roof. Volunteers MUST be comfortable working on a 5-12 pitch roof! Wear sneakers, or comfortable smooth-soled boots. Completion of the roof should be early-to-mid afternoon.
