Family Life: Your Family’s Foundation

(This post was written by Chuck Carringer, Pastor of Family Ministries)

Where I live in East Tennessee we have experienced a large number of powerful and damaging storms during the spring and early summer. During these storms the most vulnerable structures are those that are poorly built with a weak foundation. The same can be said about our own lives. The longer you live the more certain you are that you and your family will experience some of life’s storms. These storms don’t have high winds, hail and blowing rain but can be even more destructive. Life’s storms may come in the form of a divorce, loss of a job, a child’s illness, a severed relationship with a best friend, etc. Each of us will experience life’s storms. In fact, every adult I know has experienced a storm. However, the overall destruction caused by the storm and each family’s reaction to the storm can be quite different. Surviving the storm requires a strong foundation. The best foundation on which to build your life and family is faith in Christ. Our faith allows us to cling to, count on and know that our Heavenly Father is with us every step of the way. Let’s build our family’s foundation on the strength and love of God.

Is your family’s foundation ready for the next storm?
