Discussion Questions – 28 Days Of Life – Week Two
To further the conversation started by the weekend message, use these discussion questions in a group study or for personal reflection.
Our message this week – 28 Days Of Life – Do We Have His Heart
1. Christ has a heart which caused Him to place others before Himself when He was here in this world with us. As pastor shared Christ suffered from a terminal case of “otheritis”.
– Can you think of someone you know who places others before themselves?
– Describe what that looks like when it is lived out.
2. Christ reminded us that we are made in God’s image. In other words we are like God in some ways. In some ways we should act like God as well. We should care about people .
– In both our verses from Luke chapter 6 and from 1 Timothy chapter 6 we see some specifics of what we should do, how we should think, or how we should carry ourselves in our relationships with others. Read those verses now and discuss your observations on those verses with your group.
3. Pastor shard that often times there are things that hinder us from acting like God. One of those things he mentioned was anger. He pointed out that this effects one group of people possibly more than others.
– Who was he referring to?
– How do we change our heart if we find ourselves guilty of having anger as an issue or when we find that it comes too quickly over things that are truly not warranting of our anger?
4. Pastor also shared that when we expect things in return when we care for or serve others that this affects our attitude.
– In what ways does this affect our attitude?
5. The early church survived to some degree because of their generosity both within the early church but also to others outside the church.
– Do you think the church today has an overall heart of generosity? Why or why not? How can you or your group step out to be the hands and feet of God?
6. Christ’s last act of service with His disciples prior to His death was to wash their feet.
– What are the lessons that we can take from that today to apply to our walk and our lives?
– Pray as a group for God to reveal to you and your group what opportunities He has for you to serve others. If He has already placed a burden on your heart or has already revealed something specific with you share that with the group.
