Daddies And Their Princesses: Pray For Her Everyday
(This post was written by Matt Grimes, Middle School Ministry Pastor)
On our quest so far to discover the ingredients for a healthy relationship with our little girls, we have discovered 3 key ingredients. The first is to be involved in her life, the second is to honor and respect her mom, and the third is to make sure to treasure every moment with her. As we continue our journey let’s take a closer look at the next key ingredient.
Ingredient # 4: Pray for her every day. Prayer is a very powerful tool when it comes to raising our kids, especially our little girls. If you are like me, you feel clueless sometimes about what you are doing, as well as what is going on in the heart and minds of your kids. The cool thing is that God understands them completely, and He also knows exactly what we need. He invites us to connect with Him as often as we would like through prayer. Prayer is our chance to connect with the one who understands our kids completely, and know exactly what we need.
I can remember the day that God spoke to me through my quiet time and told me that we had conceived and were having a baby. It was 4 weeks before Carmen even knew. On that day I began to pray for our little girl. Once Carmen and I confirmed what God had already spoke to me, we began to pray together each night for our baby. I have never in my life felt as helpless as I did in that moment. I knew there was a life forming in my wife’s body, and more importantly I had no control over it. It was totally in God’s hands. All I could do was pray. As our little girls grow up, let’s not forget that one of the greatest things that we can do for them is to pray for them every day. Through prayer, God will not only grow us and lead us, he will also knit our heart and our little princesses heart closer together. Whether they are 2 months old or 60 years old, our little girls need our prayer. I challenge you to pray for your little princess each day. Pray big prayers for them. Our God is a gracious, loving, and generous God. Ask Him for big things for your little princess.
