Catalyst 8/11
Series: “Identity”
Focus: What is it that determines who we are and who we become? Family? Friends? Experiences? This series is all about identifying our identity as Christ-followers and the impact and influence that comes with a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Family Discussion:
- How does your identity as a family define and determine who you are as individuals?
- What affect does your family have on who you become as an adult?
- How much of your identity is determined for you and who do you allow to have that power? How much of your identity do you determine for yourself?
- We are all created with an innate sense of longing for purpose and meaning. Much of our lives is spent either trying to find it or running from it. What do you think this verse says about God’s plan for our identity?
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Psalm 139:13-16
Wrap Up: Our identity plays a huge role in the decisions we make and the direction our lives take. Understanding our identity from God’s perspective is foundational to capitalizing on the purpose He has set for us. This week, continue to communicate about what defines you as a family!
