Card Your Kid!

Do you ever card your kids?
Okay, I’m not talking about checking their ID. I’m talking about an encouraging note. Do you ever leave your kids encouraging notes? The other day my daughter had a daunting task ahead of her. In order to earn some extra cash, she agreed to do some extra duties around the house. The tasks weren’t easy (for an 8 year olds standard) and they would be even tougher knowing her brothers were not there to assist. Knowing there was high potential she might give up, we decided to ‘card her’ along the way.
I wrote out some cards with encouraging words to cheer her on. After a certain number of tasks completed, she received a card that encouraged her to keep going and not give up. At first it was the cash that inspired her to take on the task. But it was the encouraging words that kept her going.
We’re all like that in a way, aren’t we? Kids need to hear how much you believe in them. They need to hear it often. And they need to hear it in creative ways. So go ahead…
