Back2Back Day 2

Mexico 2

Today was full of experiences. First thing in the morning, we served breakfast to about 50 missionaries from all over the U.S. and then headed to a meeting. Hannah Fay, who is a social worker with Back2Back, spoke to us about God’s heart for the orphan and how God is using Back2Back to provide holistic care for the orphans in Monterrey. This was very informative and motivating. Soon after, we traveled to Principe de Paz church in the city. The energy and presence of God in the worship was amazing. Even though most of us do not speak Spanish, we were able to sing the songs and follow the scriptures that were on the screen. After church, we headed back to the campus to prepare for a very important event. Over the last couple of years, Back2Back has communicated their vision to local churches and have built of team of 50 or so volunteers that now help care for the orphans in Monterrey. Tonight, we had the privilege of preparing for, and hosting an event to honor these volunteers. It was amazing to hear the testimonies of how God is using them in this ministry. Our team is just here for a short time to do what we can, but these dedicated volunteers are in the trenches every day making an impact. We finished off the evening with live praise and worship in the big Palapa. In Isaiah 61:1-3, God provides great news for those who are hurting. He reveals his plan to heal the broken hearted, set the captives free, comfort the mourning, and bestow on them a crown of beauty, joy, and a garment of praise. His plan is for them to become “oaks of righteousness” planted by the Lord. This what Back2Back is doing. God is using them to take children who have been neglected, abandoned, and in some cases abused, and help them heal and recover to where they can experience the abundant life that He created them to live. The team is blown away by the opportunity that we have to come alongside this ministry this week and help make a difference in these orphans’ lives. Also, we are thankful for Faith Promise Church for making this possible and for all of those who are praying for us this week. We are very expectant.
