Had you ever watched all of Rogue One? What was your favorite part?
Introduction
We are not robots, but we are hard-wired for hope. Our choices create our story, but God always brings hope to our story. Just as Jyn Erso was once a prisoner and found freedom, Christians find freedom in Christ. No weapon formed against us will ever prosper because God is our vindicator (Isaiah 54:17).
Encounter God through Bible Study
Read Matthew 28:18-20.
1. In verse 18 the scripture says “All authority has been given to Me….” Jesus could do anything. What kinds of things did he choose to do?
2. Can you think of some instances when Jesus did not use his power to perform miracles?
3. What did Jesus command us (believers) to do?
Read Isaiah 54:17.
4. What kind of weapons come against you in your own life?
5. Discuss as a group ways you can fight against the weapons of the enemy.
Read John 3:16-21.
6. What are some types of darkness that are easy for people to love?
7. It says “He who practices truth comes to the Light….” How do we know for sure what is truth?
8. Why would we ever prefer an untruth?
9. Can you think of a time when you faced a difficult truth? Share with the group.
10. Discuss ways truth and salvation have made you feel free.

Pray for one another. Choose an accountability partner for the week and text a prayer to each other daily for seven days.

1. Jesus raised the dead, healed the sick, turned water into wine, restored sight to the blind, etc.
2. See Mark 6:5, Mark 8:11-13, and Mark 15:29-32. Although Jesus had all authority, he did not use his authority and power in every situation.
3. To teach all the nations of Him and to see them baptized in the Holy Ghost
4. Discuss spiritual warfare. Some weapons that the enemy might use are thoughts, gossip, sexual sin, fear, depression, financial troubles, and health issues. The enemy may also attack using our desire for money and the pursuit of “fun” outside of God’s will.
5. This is open discussion, but some things that help are prayer, fasting, and reading God’s word. Observe that the promise in this verse is that the Lord is our vindicator. Consider whether group members may be able to fight for or assist each other against the attacks discussed in question 4. For example, if a group member has a health issue, perhaps another member could accompany them to the doctor and provide support. If a group member has a financial burden, perhaps someone in the group would be able to bless them with monetary assistance or groceries.
6. We are of a sin nature. The darkness we love is sin. It might be telling a little lie, gossiping, laziness, hatred, sexual sin, or going along with the world so that we feel more like we fit in. We are in the world. We are not of the world.
7. God’s Word. God’s word is always the truth. Anything that doesn’t line up with the Bible is an untruth.
8. It seems easier to hang onto an untruth sometimes. It would be easier to lie than hurt someone’s feelings. It would be easier to believe a pleasant lie than to face a hard truth.
