Opportunities to Serve at Faith Promise

Administration

  • Events Team

    From setting up and tearing down tables and chairs to researching and creating innovative table decorations, we need a variety of people on our Events team. Time commitments are flexible and vary from once a month to seasonal times of year.

  • Reception Team

    If you're a people person, we have just the job for you! We need willing volunteers to greet guests at our Pellissippi Campus reception desk throughout the week. Here is an example of some times we have available: Monday through Thursday from 12-1pm, the 4th Tuesday of each month from 12-2pm, as well as short term daily projects when our receptionist is out of the office. Time commitments are up to you!

  • Organizing/Shopping Team

    Love to be around town? We need volunteer shoppers to pick up various ministry orders and deliver them to the church. If you love to organize, we could use an expert organizer to keep our kitchen and copy rooms stocked and orderly on a monthly basis. Time commitments are very flexible, and this could be a great project for a group!

Celebrate Ministry

  • Prayer Volunteer

    These teams meet at 6:30 on Monday nights in Satellite-1 at our Pellisssippi Campus. Teams are needed to pray individually and corporately for people as needs arise. These teams will also participate in group prayer for overall protection and guidance during the service and prayer time.

  • Celebrate Recovery Group Leader

    These leaders provide people with a safe environment to navigate their road to recovery and grow in their walk with God.

Facilities

  • Baptistry Prep

    This rotating team is responsible for filling and draining the baptistry as needed.

  • Coffee Kiosk

    This team of people serve one service per month and are responsible to keep the coffee kiosk area stocked so that our guests have an optimal coffee experience when they visit.

  • Additional Needs

    We also need people who are able to commit to weekly or monthly service in each of the following areas: room setup and tear down, cleaning, light bulb replacement (using the Faith Promise lift), moving our Pellissippi Campus street sign to the bottom of the hill (truck required), emptying our office recycle bins on Mondays and Wednesdays, and painting.

First Impressions

  • Greeter

    Help us provide a friendly first impression for all weekend attendees. Responsibilities include handing out worship guides, directing families to the Family Registration area, answering questions, shaking hands, and smiling. Time Commitment: 1 hour per week

  • Information (IFP)

    Provide information and guest services to visitors and members. This is a team of people who are friendly, approachable, and welcoming. Serve at the Information Kiosk and answer general and ministry-specific questions about FPC. Time Commitment: Service times are 30 minutes before and 20 minutes after the worship service at one service per week or biweekly.

  • Parking Lot Ministry

    This team provides a friendly first-touch for all weekend attendees. Responsibilities include directing traffic and helping people get from their cars to the building. If you have a friendly smile and a helpful attitude, we'd love to talk with you about joining our team. Time Commitment: one hour each weekend

  • Usher

    Are you an outgoing, friendly, and helpful person? We need you to help attendees find seats during the weekend services. Time Commitment: one hour each weekend

fpKids

  • Video Overview

  • Birth-Preschool Small Group Leader

    Our fpKids Small Group Leaders connect with preschool children and their parents to provide a fun and safe atmosphere and teach prepared Bible-based lessons. If you love small kids and want to make a difference in their lives, consider joining our team of volunteers. Time Commitment: 1 1/2 hours either weekly or every other week.

  • K-5th Large Group Leader

    You can serve our grade-schoolers in one of several Large Group opportunities:

    • GREETERS - give a big smile and say hello to the kids as they enter and help them find a seat.
    • HOST - larger-than-life onstage personality who isn't afraid to get a pie in the face.
    • STORYTELLER - engaging Bible Teacher.
  • K-5th Small Group Leader

    This position is the heart of our grade-school ministry. Small Group Leaders connect relationally with kids in the small group setting through age-specific activities. Small Group Leaders thrive in making a difference in a child's life and in the life of their families as they see kids grow in the Lord. Time Commitment: 1 1/2 hours either weekly or every other week.

  • Technical Team

    This team assists with audio and video equipment during our large group time. Work with our storytellers and worship leaders to enhance the large group experience. Time commitment: 30 minutes either weekly or every other week.

  • Service Coordinators

    These volunteers are organized and are "take charge" kind of people. The fpKiDS staff needs help during each service with coordinating volunteers, helping parents, restocking resources and other types of trouble-shooting. Time Commitment: 1 1/2 hours weekly.

  • Security

    You can help us make sure that fpKiDS is a safe environment for the children and that no one is in the kids area who isn't supposed to be there. Time Commitment: 1 1/2 hours weekly or every other week.

  • Behind the Scenes

    It takes a lot of work to get ready for the weekend in fpKiDS. We need volunteers to help us gather materials, get everything ready and the rooms set. Scheduled during the work day at your convenience.

  • Family Registration

    In fpKiDS, we want families to feel comfortable right away. We need warm, smiling faces to check in new families on the weekend and get them acquainted with our church. You can either work behind a computer or walk the family to their child's room. Both roles are important to a smooth check-in. Time Commitment: 1 hour weekly or every other week.

Groups

  • Group Leader

    Someone who is good with people, who enjoys teaching, and loves watching people grow in their walk with God. This area of serving is very rewarding as well as fun!

  • Host Home

    Someone who serves in Groups Ministry as a host home offers their home as a meeting place for a small group to meet.

  • Writers

    Help with curriculum for small groups. A person who is creative in their writing and is able to come up with different sets of questions would be perfect for this position.

  • Event Setup

    Assist staff with setting up tables and chairs and placing decorations and materials on tables on designated weekends.

  • Event Cleanup

    Assist staff with tearing down tables and chairs and cleaning up any decorations and materials that may have been used.

  • Event Registration

    Assist staff with checking people in on designated weekends for specific events.

  • Administration and Phone Contacts

    Assist staff with making follow up phone calls with people who have attended different classes and or connection events. These calls will help others feel included and answer their questions.

Internet Campus

  • Greeter

    Greeters connect from home and help provide a welcome atmosphere by greeting and getting to know people as they enter the Internet Campus chat room. Time Commitment: one hour each weekend

  • Prayer Team

    We need mature Christians who can connect from home to provide one-on-one prayer chat support to those who request prayer on our iCampus. Time Commitment: one hour each weekend

  • Online Group Leaders

    Lead an online group via webcam from home and help our online congregation connect to community.

  • Recording Tech

    No experience needed, just good computer skills and availability to attend our Pellissippi Campus for the Saturday 6:00 pm service once a month. Time Commitment: two hours each month.

  • First Wednesday Team

    Serve each month at our online First Wednesday service and be a part of the team. Opportunities include greeters, prayer volunteers, and recording tech. (See details on these roles above.)

Membership

  • Baptism Assistant

    Help assist with any needs of those getting baptized on the weekend. Must be there 20 minutes before the service begins. Time Commitment: at least 45 minutes during the service

  • Event Volunteer

    Help us make our communication events a great experience for new people - assist with check-ins and cleaning up when the event is finished. Must be there at least 45 minutes before the class begins and must have completed all the membership classes.

  • Hospitality

    Enjoy hospitality and serving others? Assist our Hospitality Director and/or Chef with preparing side dishes or desserts as needed. Serve on a rotating basis.

  • Set-Up

    Assist staff with setting up tables and chairs and placing decorations and class materials on tables immediately following the 11:45 am worship service on designated weekends.

Missions

  • Pantry of Promise

    Our congregation's food pantry that collects, sorts, and distributes food and household goods to those in need. This ministries does on-site distributions two times per month and major holiday distributions at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.   • Kids Hope USA

    One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring an at-risk child one hour every week. Because when kids feel loved and valued, they are better able to learn, grow and succeed. Faith Promise has adopted Beaumont Elementary School in the Western Heights area of Knoxville. The opportunity is vast. The need is great. The idea is simple. One Child, One Hour, One Church, One School. You could be the one. Student Ministry

  • Life Group Leader

    The role of life group leader is vital to the growth and relational connection of high school students. Each week the leader develops a community of 6-8 students on Wednesday nights at Catalyst by leading discussions, interacting with students, and leading in every aspect of the experience. Leaders' responsibility also include staying connected with students and families throughout the week and various events throughout the year.

  • First Impressions

    This area of service is key to ensuring that a student's experience at Faith Promise is nothing by but excellent. From student check-in and greeting to supervision and greeting, the first impressions team is the front lines for everyone who enters the building. We'd love to have you join us!

  • Media Team

    Do you have a natural bent for technology, music, or drama? Our media team leverages many creative elements in order to communicate the Gospel in a relevant way to students. Whether the task is playing in the band, shooting a video, or running the audio board, this team makes the Catalyst service an awesome experience for students to connect with God and others.

  • Events Team

    Throughout the year we ave various events that require additional help. Whether it's an out-of-state trip or a local outreach event, if you are passionate about student ministry, this is a great way to get involved!

  • Office Team

    While most of the volunteer responsibilities fall on Wednesday nights, there are lots opportunities during the week for you to get involved! Do you love organization, shopping, talking, or maybe just have some free time in the afternoons? Join our office team, and help prepare for the hundreds of students that come through in the doors on Wednesday nights!

Worship Ministry

  • Creative Arts

    Our drama and dance teams are involved in our seasonal productions as well as some of our weekend services

  • Music

    If you like to sing or if you can play an instrument, we'd love to talk with you about opportunities to lead our congregation in worship. Our Worship Ministry has several venues where you can serve in your area of passion.

  • Technical Team

    Help us create a powerful atmosphere for worship to happen by serving with our tech team in the area of Lights, Cameras, Audio, or Computers. We need dependable people to join our team. Experience is not required.

  • Catering Team

    The Worship Catering Team provides food for the Worship Ministry volunteers each weekend as well as special events.

  • Resources

    The Resources Team produces and sells all worship CDs, weekend sermons, books, and production CDs and DVDs.
